How We Use AI in Our Interview Process

At Invisible, we believe in using technology to make hiring more human — not less. We thoughtfully use AI throughout our interview process to help our team reduce bias, improve consistency, and focus on what really matters: you.

We know the idea of AI in hiring can raise questions, so this page is here to provide clarity on where and how we use AI, what we don’t use it for, and how you can ethically use AI as a candidate.

How We Use AI

We use AI as a tool to support our team, not replace them. It helps us work more efficiently and stay aligned throughout the process.

Here are the key areas where we use AI:

  • Resume Screening: To manage a high volume of applications, our Talent Acquisition Partners use AI to help identify potential matches based on a role’s key criteria. This helps us efficiently surface qualified candidates while ensuring all applicants are considered in the process.
  • Candidate Communications: Our Hiring team uses AI to help write and personalize communications, ensuring they’re clear, relevant, and helpful. It allows us to share important details about our culture, roles, and expectations earlier in the process.
  • Interview Notetaking: During interviews, interviewers will use an AI-powered notetaking assistant that records and transcribes the conversation. This helps us stay focused on the conversation itself rather than scribbling notes. Candidates can opt out of this tool at any time.
  • Internal Note Summaries: After interviews, our team may use AI to help summarize internal feedback in a clear and objective way. This ensures consistent alignment across interviewers and reduces bias in decision-making.

What We Don’t Use AI For

We do not use AI to:

  • Make hiring decisions
  • Automate interview scoring
  • Replace human judgment

Hiring decisions are made by multiple people throughout the process. AI helps us organize and clarify information, but humans lead every step of evaluation and final decision-making.

Why We Use AI

We believe AI helps us create a more inclusive and thoughtful experience for both candidates and interviewers. It allows our team to focus on what matters most: people.

Specifically, AI enables us to:

  • Discover strong candidates faster — even if they don’t fit a conventional mold
  • Craft personalized, helpful messages that make it easier to prepare
  • Keep interviews focused and engaging, not bogged down by note-taking
  • Summarize feedback in a consistent, objective way to reduce bias and promote fairness

Privacy & Data Protection

We treat candidate data seriously and operate in line with our company-wide Privacy Policy. AI tools are used internally and securely to support our process. Any recordings or summaries used during interviews are kept confidential and used only for hiring purposes.

What We Expect from Candidates Using AI

We understand that many candidates use AI to support their job search. As an AI company, we get it. We use these tools ourselves. That said, we ask all candidates to use AI ethically and transparently throughout the process. Here’s what that looks like at different stages:

Policies for Individual Interview Stages

  • Resume & Application: It’s fine to use AI to polish or format your resume — just make sure it accurately represents you. Misrepresenting your experience, skills, or achievements (whether done manually or with AI) can disqualify your candidacy.
  • Take-Home Assessments or Writing Exercises: You can use AI to research topics, check grammar, or help you think through ideas. However, your submission should reflect your own thinking and approach. AI isn't perfect, and we expect candidates to fact-check and apply their own judgment rather than relying solely on AI-generated responses.
  • Live Phone & Video Interviews: Please do not use AI tools to generate answers during interviews. If it’s apparent that you’re reading from an AI prompt or script, it may disqualify you. We’re here to hear your real thoughts, not an AI-generated persona.
  • Live Coding Assessments: We understand AI is often part of a developer’s daily workflow, and we’re okay with candidates using it during coding interviews — as long as you're transparent about how you’re using it. Our team will expect you to clearly explain your thought process, how you’re approaching the problem, and where AI is assisting you. We're assessing how you think, not just the end result.

Questions?

If you have any questions or concerns about how we use AI or how you can use it ethically during the process, feel free to ask your Talent Acquisition Partner. We’re happy to have an open conversation.
